I think the slab was poured too small to begin with. When the slab was extended it wasn't very good quality concrete or workmanship.

Not quite sure what you mean by keyed in. Are you renewing the garage slab surface or the whole garage?

Hi Glendon Sorry I missed your post and I presume you have had this sorted by now, BUT the only reason I can think that they upgraded your slab is to account for disturbance of the natural soil when the existing house was removed.
